Polyurethane protective film for the car is an effective way to preserve the appearance of the vehicle and close the flaws on the body or in the interior. Using a template for the bumper of a car or other parts, you can choose one of the methods of pasting-with or without turns of the material under the processed element. Depending on the surface on which the PVC film is applied, the method of gluing is selected.

If the owner of the car has chosen the method of pasting his car according to patterns, then he needs to know the features of two methods of using templates:

Without bends.
Patterns are cut out without allowances, strictly according to the contour of the template. This method is used for elements of the exterior and interior, which normally require the dismantling and disassembling. For example, some car models have side mirrors designed so that it is not possible to tuck the edge of the film behind the reflective surface. The same situation can occur when pasting the bumper – for curving you need to completely dismantle the part or remove the fenders. There are also cars in which the edge of the material borders on the rubber seal of the headlight when pasting the front fenders. If you try to push the bend under the elastic band, there are risks of damaging the seal itself and the headlight. Therefore in these places the film cut out according to the pattern is pasted strictly along the edge of the part.

With bends.
In this case, the material is cut according to patterns with an allowance of 6-8 mm for body parts and interior, where there is a place for bending the material. For elements where there is no such space, leave an additional 2-3 mm. This is enough for doorways in hard-to-reach places. This method is used to protect "risk zones". Doorways prevent dust and dirt from getting under the film.

A significant difference between the two methods of pasting a car with a protective film according to patterns is the application of the material. Polyurethane has the property of stretching, but with a little heating, the material can return to its original state. Therefore, it is important when pasting with doorways not to stretch the edges of the template, so that later they do not shrink and do not slide off the part. Cut out according to the patterns for the car body elements must be stretched evenly, from the center.
When pasting without turns, the film tension is not required.
