What you need for pasting a car

The first thing you need to buy a knife. With its help, the material is cut according to the shape of the part being pasted.
There are several types of knives:

  • The usual stationery. It is inexpensive, it is easy to use. However, it has a major drawback - during the cutting of the material, it can damage the paintwork (the film is placed on the body part and specialists carry out cutting along the contour of the shape of the latter).
  • The knife is a snail. The body of this tool is made of plastic. It is convenient to hold it in your hands. The snail knife does not damage the body paintwork due to the specific location of the blade. However, such a tool is very difficult to use in hard-to-reach areas of the body and interior.
  • Cutting thread. This is not exactly a knife, but it is also intended for cutting material. It is a thread on an adhesive basis. It is laid along the contour of the part, and the film is placed on top. After that, the thread is pulled by the protruding end, during which it cuts the film.

In addition to the knife, you will also need:

  • Raquel. There may be air left under the film. And with a squeegee, the surface is carefully smoothed to eliminate air bubbles.
  • Fan. It is intended for heating the protective film (the latter is slightly stretched as a result).

In addition to tools, special tools may also be needed, for example, for surface preparation (cleaning, degreasing) before pasting, soap (it allows you to position the film on the surface of the part).

An alternative method of pasting

It is not necessary to cut the material directly on the body - this is very dangerous for the paintwork, besides, the accuracy of this method is low. As an alternative, you can buy electronic patterns for the bumper of a car (or for the entire body). A set of electronic patterns can then be sent to a plotter machine, which will perform an accurate cutting of the material. When using this method, there is no risk of damaging the paintwork, and the accuracy will be ideal (after all, electronic patterns are created for a specific model, even the years of production of the car are taken into account).
